First Baojun 630 Passenger Car Rolls Off Line at SAIC-GM-Wuling

Liuzhou — The first Baojun 630 passenger car from SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), one of GM China's main joint ventures, rolled off the production line today in Liuzhou, Guangxi.

Baojun is SGMW's new brand of affordable passenger vehicles that will be sold across China. The initial model, the Baojun 630, goes on sale in early 2011 through a new network of dedicated Baojun dealers.

The compact sedan was developed locally using proven GM technology. It features a highly efficient GM powertrain that meets all local emission standards as well as the advanced Euro IV standard. (more…)

Beijing — SAIC-GM-Wuling introduced the new Wuling Hong Guang compact business vehicle today at Auto China 2010.

The Hong Guang combines an elegant exterior with a truly compact design and a small engine, changing traditional perceptions of compact business vehicles. It is targeted at those who need a business vehicle with outstanding fuel economy and functionality, but at an affordable price.

SAIC-GM-Wuling Signs Agreements to Export Mini-Commercial Vehicles to South America, Middle East and North Africa

Shanghai — General Motors Company announced today that its SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture signed a framework agreement with GM's former Latin America, Africa and Middle East operations and distribution agreements with individual countries to export and distribute two of its most popular mini-commercial vehicles from China to markets in South America, the Middle East and North Africa.

SAIC-GM-Wuling will export Wuling N200 series and Wuling N300 series products. The vehicles will be sold under the Chevrolet brand through GM's distribution networks. GM also will provide standard aftersales support. (more…)

SAIC-GM-Wuling Exports Minivans from China to Latin America

Shanghai — General Motors announced today that its SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture has begun exporting the Chevrolet N200 minivan from China to Peru. The N200 will be sold in Peru through Chevrolet's local marketing and dealership network.

This marks the first export of mini-commercial vehicles by GM from China to Latin America. In 2007, its Shanghai GM joint venture exported the Chevrolet Sail small car to Chile.

The N200, which is sold in China by SAIC-GM-Wuling as the Wuling Hong Tu, made its global debut in 2006 and entered the Chinese market last year. The high-end minivan was developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling with support from the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), GM's automotive engineering and design center in Shanghai. (more…)

SAIC-GM-Wuling Introduces Wuling Rong Guang Minivan Sets New Standard for Roominess, Emissions and Safety

Beijing, China — SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM China's mini-commercial vehicle joint venture, introduced the new Wuling Rong Guang minivan today on its stand at Auto China 2008. The Rong Guang takes roominess, emissions and safety to a new level.

With a length of 4,000 mm, height of 1,915 mm, width of 1,620 mm and wheelbase of 2,700 mm, the Rong Guang offers a much more spacious cabin than traditional mini-commercial vehicles. This makes it ideal for both family and business use.

Its 1.2-liter double overhead cam gasoline engine generates maximum power of 52.2 kW per liter (more…)
