TMC Launches Redesigned ‘Vitz’

Toyota City, Japan — Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces the launch in Japan today of the redesigned “Vitz” compact car.

Since the launch of the first-generation in 1999, the Vitz has achieved cumulative sales in more than 70 countries and regions around the world — including many European countries — exceeding 3.5 million units¹. With more than 1.4 million of those units² having been sold in Japan, the Vitz is truly a core model of the Toyota brand.

Toyota Unveils Concept Version of New Compact Car for India

Tokyo — Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces its production and sales subsidiary in India unveiled today — under the banner: “World First, India First” — a concept version of the “Etios*”, a compact car newly developed specifically for the Indian market. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private, Ltd. (TKM) is showing the concept car at the 10th Auto Expo automobile show in New Delhi, which runs until January 11.

The Etios is aimed at family users in India’s rapidly growing automobile market. Reflecting its “one class above” theme, the Etios’ styling evokes a sense of advanced status, and, along with a spacious interior with abundant storage space, it aims to offer both smooth and powerful driving and excellent fuel efficiency. TMC Unveils Luxury Hybrid ‘SAI’

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces the unveiling today in Japan of the compact luxury sedan “Sai”, which is planned to go on sale in Japan on December 7.

The Sai is based on a concept derived from the Japanese word sai — which means “talent” when written as “sai” and “coloration” when written as “sai” — as a hybrid-only sedan “combining advanced talent and multi-color sophistication”.

The Sai, designed with extensive consideration for the environment, features a gasoline-electric hybrid system with a 2.4-liter engine for outstanding fuel efficiency and use of Ecological Plastic (more…)

Toyota Launches Redesigned ‘Mark X’

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces the launch in Japan today of the redesigned “Mark X”, which furthers the series' “sporty and luxurious” concept by offering enhanced quality in an authentic rear-wheel-drive sedan.

The Mark X features a dynamic low center of gravity that is combined with powerful driving performance made possible by a new 3.5-liter V6 engine. TMC to Display 3 Concepts, F1 Car at Tokyo Motor Show

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces that three concept vehicles and the TF109 Formula One racing car are to highlight its Toyota-brand exhibit for the 41st Tokyo Motor Show. The show is open to the public from October 24 to November 4 at Makuhari Messe in Makuhari, Chiba Prefecture.

TMC views motor shows as an opportunity to highlight new, automotive possibilities, and so over the years has used them to unveil a wide variety of concept vehicles and groundbreaking technologies.

This year, the Toyota-brand exhibit continues its theme from the previous Tokyo Motor Show: “Harmonious Drive — A New Tomorrow for People and the Planet”. (more…)
