Chevrolet Aveo RS Show Car: A Wake-Up Call For The Small-Car Segment

Detroit — Chevrolet today announced the world debut of the Aveo RS show car at the 2010 North American International Auto Show. It features a European-inspired hot hatch look designed to appeal to young enthusiasts, and hints at the next-generation Aveo.

Longer, wider and more spacious than the current production Aveo, the Aveo RS showcases the car's upscale-looking design cues both inside and out, and presents the many personalization options potentially available on the next-generation car.

“We hope the Aveo RS show car will demonstrate that we are as serious about redefining the Aveo and its place in the small-car segment as we were about reinventing the Malibu,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet general manager. (more…)

Hyundai Motor's New High-Performance V6 Lambda RS Engine

Namyang, Korea — Hyundai Motor Company's Powertrain R&D Center at Namyang has developed a new high-performance V6 Lambda (λ) RS (Rear wheel drive Sports) engine which will see its first application in the Genesis Coupe to be launched in Korea this month.

Based on the highly successful Lambda first introduced in 2004, the RS edition features several key modifications which have raised power to a maximum of 310 ps @ 6300 rpm (310 hp for US Market) and peak torque to 36.8 kg/m @ 4700 rpm.

New Focus RS: Ford of Europe's Ultimate Performance Car

Cologne — The legendary Ford RS performance car brand is back and faster than ever. The stunning new 2009 Focus RS is previewed at Paris, while development work has confirmed it as the fastest ever European Ford production car.

Ford is confirming performance target figures for Focus RS as 0–100 km/h in under 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h or more.

However, for Team RS engineers, headed by Ford of Europe's Vehicle Line Director for Performance Vehicles, Jost Capito, this is only part of the story.

Chevrolet Unveils The 2010 Camaro — A Fun, Efficient Sports Car For The 21st Century

Detroit — Chevrolet introduced the production 2010 Camaro today. It is a heritage-inspired sports car for the 21 st century, combining great looks and performance; advanced technology and surprising efficiency — including 26-mpg estimated highway fuel economy. Sales begin in the first quarter of 2009.

Built on GM's new, global rear-wheel-drive architecture, the Camaro is offered in V6-powered LS and LT models, as well as the V8-powered SS. All models and powertrain combinations include fuel-saving six-speed transmissions.

New Ford Focus RS: A Legend Returns

Brentwood — The legendary Ford RS performance car brand is returning in the shape of the exciting new Ford Focus RS, which will be previewed on July 22 at the 2008 London International Motor Show.

The new Focus RS will go on sale in early 2009 and is being created by a small team of dedicated engineers, under the direction of Jost Capito, Ford of Europe's Vehicle Line Director for Performance Vehicles.
