Chevrolet’s All-New TrailBlazer SUV Breaks Cover in Dubai

Dubai — Chevrolet's toughest, most-refined midsize sport utility vehicle, the TrailBlazer, made its global debut today at the opening of the Dubai International Motor Show in the Middle East.

The robust seven-seat show vehicle previews Chevrolet's latest SUV offering, which will be sold around the world, beginning with Thailand in early 2012.

The new-generation TrailBlazer combines the hauling and towing capability of a body-on-frame SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover. Developed in tandem with the all-new Chevrolet Colorado pickup by GM do Brasil, it shares the same architecture as its truck sibling, with a chassis tuned to combine heavy-duty off-road capability with refined city driving. GM to Invest $445 Million in New Plant, Thai Operations

Rayong, Thailand — General Motors is investing $445 million to build an engine plant and upgrade an existing vehicle assembly plant here, company Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced today.

The new 14,492-square-meter (156,000-square-foot) facility will be GM's first diesel engine plant in Southeast Asia and will provide four-cylinder diesel engines for use by Chevrolet in Thailand and other global markets and brands. Construction began today with the ceremonial pouring of the facility's first cement pillar during an event attended by 400 guests, including U.S. Ambassador Eric G. John and government representatives from Thailand and other ASEAN nations. (more…)

GM Holden Plans Light Commercial Replacement

GM Holden has announced it will introduce a new light commercial vehicle later this year that will replace the long-running Rodeo.

The new Colorado range will feature many of the attributes that has made Rodeo so successful, including the choice of petrol or diesel engines, 4×4 or 4×2 models, and numerous body styles such as Single Cab, Space Cab and Crew Cab.

Current Rodeo owners will continue to be covered by GM Holden's 3 year/100,000km warranty and Roadside Assistance for the first 12 months of ownership.

GM Holden Marketing Manager for LCV, Teresa Basile, said GM Holden is moving to a new exciting product with more details to follow in the coming months. (more…)
