Chevrolet’s All-New TrailBlazer SUV Breaks Cover in Dubai

Dubai — Chevrolet's toughest, most-refined midsize sport utility vehicle, the TrailBlazer, made its global debut today at the opening of the Dubai International Motor Show in the Middle East.

The robust seven-seat show vehicle previews Chevrolet's latest SUV offering, which will be sold around the world, beginning with Thailand in early 2012.

The new-generation TrailBlazer combines the hauling and towing capability of a body-on-frame SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover. Developed in tandem with the all-new Chevrolet Colorado pickup by GM do Brasil, it shares the same architecture as its truck sibling, with a chassis tuned to combine heavy-duty off-road capability with refined city driving. São Paulo, Brazil — General Motors revealed the Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe concept today at the 25th edition of the São Paulo International Auto Show. The Chevrolet GPiX concept was developed by General Motors Design in Brazil and represents a potential new segment for GM in the Mercosur region.

The GPiX concept features a two-door body style with high ground clearance appropriate for the types of roads and conditions found in emerging markets. “It offers the sporty design and versatility necessary for a country with the continental dimensions of Brazil,” said Carlos Barba, General Director of Design for GM Latin America, Africa and Middle East. Renault is enriching its vehicle line-up in Mercosur with Renault Sandero Stepway, launched from October in Brazil and then in Argentina. The newcomer's assertive styling is targeted at sophisticated urban customers looking for a vehicle that sets them apart. Renault Sandero Stepway boasts the same fundamental qualities of roominess and reliability as Renault Sandero, this last quality underscored by a three-year/100,000-km warranty in Brazil. GM Extends Engine Supply Agreement with Navistar Affiliate MWM International Motores

São Paulo, Brazil — (BUSINESS WIRE) — The board of directors of General Motors Brazil and MWM International Motores, an affiliate of Navistar Inc., have signed a strategic agreement to manufacture 420,000 units of a completely new diesel engine to serve GM's new vehicle line to be launched by 2011. The engines will be supplied for GM in Brazil and the vehicles will also serve export markets.

The directors for both companies today signed the seven-year engine supply contract at GM headquarters in São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, Brazil. Considering the current conditions of the global vehicle market, both companies estimate that volumes can reach 60,000 units per year. This represents the largest contract between GM and a supplier in Brazil. (more…)
