The 5.0-Liter is Back: 2011 Ford Mustang GT Leads Class With 412 hp, Fuel Efficiency, Chassis Dynamics

Dearborn, MI — The 5.0 is back! The 2011 Ford Mustang GT arrives with an all-new advanced 5.0-liter V8 engine, developed by a passionate cadre of enthusiastic engineers who rallied around the common goal of delivering more than 400 horsepower.

The modern 5.0-liter four-valve Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) V8 engine in the new Mustang GT will deliver 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. At the same time, fuel economy is projected to be better than the previous model and unsurpassed in the segment.

Seoul, Korea — GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) today hosted the GM Daewoo “Style, We Create” Next-Generation Vehicle Preview at its Design Center to provide media an exclusive sneak peak at its future design concepts.

The next-generation products shown are a precursor for the design direction of the automaker's future small vehicle, upper-midsize sedan and seven-seat minivan.

The next-generation global small vehicle design, which had never been shown before, represents an important vehicle for the automaker. GM Daewoo is the global development center for GM's small vehicles. (more…)

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation All-New Compact Crossover to Be Named “RVR” in Japan

Tokyo, Japan — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has decided to name its all-new compact crossover the RVR. This all-new compact crossover is planned for sequential release globally, and will be first released in Japan next spring.

The all-new RVR is a compact crossover that provides high environmental efficiency and has a compact body while providing ample utility space and high performance.

The RVR will be fitted with an all-new 1.8 L MIVEC petrol engine, and will be approximately 4.3 meters in length, featuring high fuel efficiency via its lightweight compact body. (more…)

Los Angeles — Hyundai today introduced its all-new 2011 Sonata at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This marks the North American debut of the latest version of the popular midsize sedan, introducing Hyundai's “Fluidic Sculpture” design language and an all four-cylinder engine lineup to the U.S. market.

Sonata is the second vehicle in Hyundai's 24/7 version 2.0 product initiative (seven new models in the next 24 months) following on the heels of the all-new Tucson. Production of Sonata will begin later this month at Hyundai's U.S. plant in Alabama with retail sales beginning in January. (more…)
