GM Full-Size Pickups And SUVs Deliver Better Fuel Economy And Same Great Capabilities With New ‘XFE’ Models

Detroit — General Motors is building on the segment-leading fuel economy of its full-size pickups and SUVs with new XFE models of the 2009 Chevy Silverado, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Sierra and GMC Yukon. The vehicles use a combination of mechanical, aerodynamic and mass-reducing enhancements to deliver a 5-percent increase in EPA-estimated highway fuel economy and more than 7-percent improved mileage in city driving.

The aero enhancements make Silverado XFE and Sierra XFE models the most aerodynamic full-size pickups in the industry, with a “Best in Class” 0.412 coefficient of drag (cd). (more…)

New Generation of Four-Cylinder Diesel Engines from Mercedes-Benz Leads the Way: Taking Performance, Consumption and Emissions into a New Dimension

Stuttgart — What better way to mark the 150th anniversary of Rudolf Diesel's birth than a brand new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines from Mercedes-Benz which outstrip all previous benchmarks for performance, torque, emission properties and, most notably, fuel economy in their segment? In its most powerful variant, the new four-cylinder unit musters up 150 kW/204 PS from its 2143 cubic centimeters, meaning that it delivers around 20 per cent more power than the engine it replaces. At the same time, peak torque has risen from 400 Nm to 500 Nm, equating to an increase of 25 per cent. (more…)

GM Signs Agreement for More than $800 Million to Export U.S.-Built Vehicles and Components to China

Washington, DC — General Motors Corp. and its Shanghai General Motors joint venture today signed a multi-year agreement worth more than $800 million to export U.S.-built Buick Enclave premium crossover sport utility vehicles along with other vehicles and components to China beginning in 2008.

The agreement was signed in the presence of China's Assistant Vice Minister of Commerce Chen Jian, Chinese Embassy officials, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce Israel Hernandez, GM Vice President of Global Sales, Service and Marketing Operations John Middlebrook, and Shanghai GM Executive Vice President Robert Socia.

The all-new Buick Enclave is built at GM's Lansing Delta Township assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan. (more…)

Cadillac showcases new SLS at Auto China 2006

Detroit — The General Motors China Group recently reported another sales record for the first nine months of 2006 (645,680 vehicles). These record sales are driven by Buick (+27.8 percent), Chevrolet (+51.0 percent), Cadillac (+27.1 percent) and Wuling (+38.7 percent), China's number one brand of mini-vehicles. At “Auto China 2006”, this year's international motor show in Beijing, Shanghai GM is showcasing new models such as the Cadillac SLS and Escalade. In addition, an important new offering from the Wuling brand is to be premiered. Furthermore, GM concept cars such as the Saab Aero-X, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet WTCC Ultra will make their public debuts in China. (more…)
